“Carolina Christmas”

Carolina Christmas
(Dusty Marie)

Another Carolina Christmas morning
Has come again so I see
The sun rises in the east
As I make my way from Tennessee
Past the old town
And the house so grand
Built by a New York City businessman
Down the curving mountain lanes I drive
With those blue hills against the sky

Another Carolina Christmas morning
Has brought me to the lower lands
Where red clay covers the earth
And the business world tests their plans
Past the TV tower
Lit so bright
Against a cloudless blue Carolina sky
Christmas carols playing as I go
On local country radio

Another Carolina Christmas morning
Has brought me back home again
Amid the farmlands and the yellow pines
Smiling faces welcome me in
Past the lighted tree
And the manger scene
And the mantle trimmed with evergreen
So begins as always
Another Carolina Christmas day
